VU Amsterdam launches project to strengthen health and rights of female factory workers in Bangladesh

Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam as the lead, through its Centre for International Cooperation (CIS-VU) and the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology partner and Bangladeshi Directorate General of Family Planning of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (DGFP) have officially launched their project “STITCH” last week in Dhaka on 27 of February 2019.

STITCH focuses on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in the Bangladeshi ready-made garment sector. Young women working in this sector often face problems relating to gender inequality and taboos around sexuality.
