Human rights in international perspective
Human rights in international perspective
The formulation of human rights is an important achievement of our society, both at the national and the international level. Most people now accept that there are fundamental human rights that must not be violated, such as the right to live or freedom of speech. But how universal are these rights, and what happens when different perceptions of these rights are in conflict? In this seminar we will discuss what human rights are, mainly from an international perspective. We will look at different cases of human rights and human rights violations, such as the death penalty, slavery or child soldiers.
