Political Science: Global Environmental Governance

1: Admission requirements and application
To qualify for admission to the Master’s in Political Science, students must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Additional admission requirements apply to students who hold a Bachelor’s degree in another subject.
Also, to be admitted to the master's programme you must meet the following results in your English language test:
- IELTS score with a minimum of 7.0
- TOEFL score paper based test: 600
- TOEFL score computer based test: 250
- TOEFL score internet based test: 100
Possibility: VU TOEFL-ITP, a shortened version of the TOEFL test. The result only counts within the VU. Costs are 60 euro.
N.B. Bachelorstudents Political Science do not have to meet these language requirements. More information about possible exemptions.
Request for application
Before entering the (pre)Master’s programme and for registration, every prospective student must submit a request for application to the Faculty of Social Sciences. The examination board will assess each application and establish whether you will be permitted to enter the programme directly or whether you will have to take the pre-Master's course in or a part of this course. The application deadline is May 31.

Applicants with a VU Bachelor’s degree should enclose:
- a completed application form (dowload the form here)
- a certified copy of your degree certificate,
- a transcript of courses taken and results obtained
- a letter in English in which you state your reasons for applying to the programme
- two letters of reference by individuals who are in a position to comment on your academic skills and motivation
- a detailed curriculum vitae (or résumé) in English
- a sample of academic writing in English
- a certificate to verify your proficiency in English.
Please note that bachelorstudents Political Science do not have to meet the language requirements.
