Agenda

In the Faculty Lectures, members of the Faculty of Social Sciences and experts from outside the University -such as researchers or employees from various organizations- discuss topics related to social sciences.

In the second Faculty Lecture of 2011-2012, three researches from the Faculty of Social Sciences and a journalist will give their perspective on the question “Has the media caused the European crisis?”. Based on their statements, the speakers will debate with each other and the public regarding the most overestimated and underestimated issues about this European topic.

• Ruben Eg, International journalist for the daily newspaper Metro
• Barbara Vis, Associate Professor in Political Science
  

The Moderator of the lecture coordinates the event. The speakers will all speak for 10 minutes and after each speaker there is 5 minutes for interaction with the audience. After all the speakers have spoken there is a debate led by the moderator.

• 15.15 - 15.30 uur: Entrance
• 15.30 - 15.35 uur: Opening by Barbara Vis (moderator)
• 15.35- 16.35 uur: Speakers formulate statements
• 16.35- 17.10 uur: Debate based on the four statements
• 17.10- 17.25 uur: Debate with the audience
• 17.25- 17.30 uur: Closure
• 17.30 - 18.30 uur: drinks at EOS

This Faculty Lecture is organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty Student Organization EOS. The lecture will take approximately two hours and afterwards you are invited to join all participants and visitors for drinks.
