Journalists cannot get enough of reporting about the financial crisis and its consequences for just about anybody in Europe and North America. But what is the story in the largest part of the world, the people in the Global South? They are also integrated into the global economy and unquestionably feel the impact of the crisis too. Local disinvestments, changes in international migration flows, and loss of jobs are just a few of the consequences affecting the South. Anthropologists, who have already been involved in studying the global effects of neo-liberalism for a long time, shed new light on the financial crisis.
