International exchange programmes

International exchange is an important aspect of students' education. If you are interested in studying abroad for one or two semester, VU University Amsterdam is an excellent choice! VU University Amsterdam is known as a high-quality university with a social heart. You will benefit from the personal atmosphere and easy access to all facilities due to our campus setting, and still have the vibrant city of Amsterdam close at hand. The university’s slogan is ‘A wider perspective’, which is certainly true for the Faculty of Social sciences. Our programmes are often interdisciplinary. We aim to be an international university. Exchange students are very welcome, each year we offer more courses in English.

The Faculty of Social Sciences places a strong emphasis on opportunities for study experiences abroad. The Faculty of Social Sciences has many exchange partnerships with universities in and outside Europe. Every year approximately 70 students from partner universities come to study at the faculty while the same number of students from the Faculty of Social Sciences go abroad. If you are interested in studying at the Faculty of Social Sciences as an exchange student, please check our list of partners and see if there is an agreement on your subject level between your university and our faculty.
