VU-net-id

VU-net-id is your personal accescode to all the university's online services such as VUnet, Webmail and Blackboard. Every new student receives an e-mail with a Vunet-id, a password and a corresponding manual.

Change password
At top.vu.nl you can request and reset your password. If you have lost your username, please visit the Student Admissions Desk (room 0A-11, Main Building). Make sure to bring identification and your university registration card
with you.

Your  VU-net-id provides access to:

  • Computers on the campus.
  • VUnet: Registering for courses and exams, checking grades online via VUnet. The initial page is in Dutch, but you can set the language to English once you have logged in. Here you can register for courses, exams and check your grades. This website provides you with more information about VU-net.
  • E-journals/e-Resources University library. You can access online journals and library resources from your computer anywhere, after you have entered the correct settings on your systems. For instructions, please visit the Library website.

VU webmail

Every student is provided with a university e-mail address, and has access to the university server which can be used for storage space. Please check your e-mail on a regular base because the faculty may send important information by e-mail. At webmail.vu.nl you can access your university email account from anywhere with internet access using your VU-net-ID. There is a manual available on VUnet with configuration and tips.

Computer rooms

FSW students have access to several computer rooms. The Faculty of Social Sciences shares computer rooms with the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Economics and Bussiness Administration. There is an overview available of all the computer rooms on VUnet.

  • Please note our code of conduct for computer and network use available on VUnet.
  • How to log in: You can log in with your VU-net-id.
  • Opening hours: please find the the opening hours of the computer rooms (buildings).
  • For more information on the availability of computer rooms, please see check this page (PDF file for September willl follow)
  • Software: All the computers have the standard Windows software for word processing and statistical software for analyses.
  • Storage space: As VU student, you have storage space. See more information about the storage space on VUnet.

Floating workspaces

VU-buildings are provided with special floating workspaces where you can easily send and read e-mail, documents and sources on the internet.
