Awards and grants
Prof. dr. Harry Ganzeboom received a grant of 260.000 Euro from the Netherlands Organisation of Scientific Research (NWO) for his project “Improving the measurement of social background variables in the European Social Survey”.
Prof. Aat Liefbroer and Dr. Ineke Nagel were awarded a grant in the Open Competitie of NWO-MAGW in 2009 for their research proposal on the influence of the school and the family on the plans adolenscents have for the future. With the grant of over 200.000 Euro they could appoint four PhD students for the course of four years.
Dr. Hilde Bras received a VIDI grant (NWO) in 2010 to do comparative research of family and fertility in Europe. In 2004 she received a VENI grant (NWO) for her research project "Brothers and sisters and the life course: bilateral relaties, differences and mutual influences in the life courses of brothers and sisters" (2004-2008).
Dr. Joost Beuving was awarded a Wenner Gren grant in 2008 (postdoc) for the project 'Global business, economic behavior in action and the social construction of the Euro-African Nile perch market' (2008-2010).
Extraordinary chairs
Several extraordinary chairs have been established at VU Amsterdam through a societal organization.
- Prof. dr. B.F.M. Bakker holds the extraordinary chair in Social Research Methods. This chair has been established by Statistics Netherlands.
- Prof. dr. A.C. Liefbroer holds the extraordinary chair in Demography of Young Adults and Intergenerational Transfer. This chair has been established by the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute.
