One of the aims of co-operation is to establish student exchange. Students will learn about a different educational system, another approach to their field of study and also about different cultures.

The  Paulo Freire Program (PFP) offers an exchange program for undergraduate students who have finished their second year of studies. The exchange is between the Netherlands (VU University Amsterdam) and Brazil (UERJ, UFMG, UFPE, UFRGS) and offers two students per Brazilian university the possibility to study in the Netherlands for one semester or a year. Vice versa, two Dutch students can study one semester or a year at one of the Brazilian Universities.

In order to be able to participate in courses at Brazilian universities, Dutch students will have to speak Portuguese. All the Brazilian universities offer Portuguese language courses.

*Help: As most the universities' websites in Brazil are publised in Portuguese, there are some website translating tools which might help you better understand the programs. The translation is not accurate, but it can give you a broad idea of what is being said. For more information on the programs, please contact our International Office.
