Exchange of PhD students

Brazilian scholarship has a long history of international co-operation, especially in relation to PhD courses. Most academics have earned their PhD in foreign countries, mainly in the United States, United Kingdom and France. Although many national universities now offer PhD courses too, there is still a tendency to do at least one year of courses and/or library research abroad. The program intends to offer Brazilian PhD candidates the possibility to do a year of their training at the Centre of Comparative Social Studies of the VUA in the Netherlands. Though a fee has to be paid for this year abroad, the program is investigating the possibilities of offering a grant.
Dutch PhD’s can vice versa spend one year at one of the Brazilian universities of the program. One PhD per Brazilian university will be enabled to participate in the program and one Dutch PhD per Brazilian counterpart.
