Political Science: Global Environmental Governance
Career prospects
As a graduate of the Master’s programme in Political Science at VU University Amsterdam specializing in Global Environmental Governance, you will be capable of working effectively in a multidisciplinary environment: you will be familiar with and have a solid foundation in the approaches used in the wider world of the social sciences. Graduates are well-equipped to undertake roles in organizations where coherent policy papers are produced, based on specialist reports from various disciplinary backgrounds.
The field of environmental policy is rapidly growing, both on the national as well as the European and international level. You can easily find yourself working as a policy analyst or advisor within an international governmental or non-governmental organization, the private sector, or a government ministry. You will also be well qualified to enter the field of journalism. Besides that, many graduate students choose to work in a commercial environment, as consultant or advisor.
The thorough application of research skills offered by the programme also prepares you for successful participation in PhD research in political science at our department or environmental policy at the Institute of Environmental Studies (IVM) at the VU University Amsterdam, or other postgraduate institutes around the world.
