University library (UBVU)

In the University library you can read and borrow books and scientific periodicals, and consult the digital databases. The library of the Faculty of Social Sciences can be found on the third floor of the main building and the study room is on the seventh floor. At the library website you can browse the catalogue and make and extend reservations. Of course you can also borrow books from other faculties.

Printing and photocopying

Printers can be found in the computer rooms. A photocopying machine is available in the library. A copy centre can be found next to the restaurant in the main building. Next to the copy centre there are four self-service photocopiers. For printing and photocopying you should use a so called ‘Chipknip’. Either your Dutch bank account has the Chipknip facility or you can buy a disposable card from the VU bookstore for 23 Euro’s. This card provides 20 Euro of copying and printing, and 3 Euro for the card administration. You can increase the chipknip balance on your bank card using the special machines which can be found in the restaurants in the main building and the W&N building, or next to the cash dispensers.

Food and drink

At the campus there are several restaurants where you can buy food, including hot meals and drinks. Vending machines can also be found in all university buildings. The university also has a university café, the Basket, which can be found at the great court of the campus.

VU bookstore

The VU bookstore in the main building is the place to buy both general literature and textbooks for your courses. They also sell disposable Chipknip cards, which you can use for printing and photocopying at the university.
