Welcome to the Department of Political Science website

The VU Department of Political Science is a high-quality research and education institute. Our political science program (BSc and MSc) is consistently ranked by Elsevier as the best Political Science education of the Netherlands. The Political Science department also participates in more specialized programs like the Social Science Research Master program and an LLM in international law and security.

Our researchers are subdivided in three disciplines: comparative politics, international relations and political theory. They address relevant questions for today's society: can we reform our political system, under what conditions does war break out and how do international organizations influence national societies?
