research

His academic work focuses on the everyday life in technology driven organizations and complex (mega)projects. Currently, he runs a research program, in cooperation with knowledge institute KING, which studies cultural practices in six Dutch megaprojects. This research project aims to give an in-depth understanding of how, in the collaboration of public and private partners, public values are embedded in cultural practices in megaprojects. Furthermore, he is, together with colleague prof. Marcel Veenswijk, (co)project leader of the Partners in Business action research program. The aim of this program is to help public and private partners in the construction industry to change their collaborative practices. Finally, van Marrewijk studies social material work practices in organisations in which the design of spatial settings is intertwined with organisational change processes.
