specialization

The measurement of social capital seen from the perspective of the individual, its social network dimensions (relationships, key attributes of network members, social resources and network structure), and their quantification. Networking in real life: practical skills, consultancy and consequences, and their integration with research findings. See also http://xs4all.nl/~gaag/work; www.lared.nl

research

  • The wording of resource- and position-based social capital item lists for specific populations, e.g. geographic regions, occupational and organisational fields and other topically defined subgroups
  • Where to draw the line between hierarchical and social relationships in social capital exchanges in organisations? Where does task-oriented and contractually demanded behaviour end, and where does social network behaviour, and resulting organisational citizenship behaviour start?
  • Negative effects of social networks, and providing a mirror image taxonomy of these in complement to generally positively worded effects of social capital
  • Quantifying social capital into economic value
