Research

Logo INEX The INEX-project is a European research project funded by the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Commission. Within this project Prof. dr. Monica den Boer has been responsible for Work Package 3: ‘Value Dilemmas of Security Professionalism’. Research within this work package focused on the value assumptions and ethical challenges involving the rapidly changing role of security professionals in Europe. The project started in May 2008 and concluded in May 2011. On this project have participated: Dr. Isabelle Ioannides, Dr. Matteo Tondini and Jelle van Buuren. Asia-europa foundation site Monice By order of the Asian-European Foundation (ASEF) and in cooperation with Dr. Changwon Pyo Prof. dr. Monica den Boer developed the handbook ‘Good Policing: Instruments, Models and Practices’. The handbook provides a guide to the different models, existing good practices, legal instruments and key parameters of policing in Asia and Europe. Designed to address the needs of police officers, academics, experts and policy makers, the ultimate objective of this guide is to contribute towards ongoing efforts to improve police ethics, transparency and compliance with international human rights standards. The project started in December 2008 and concluded in December 2010. On this project have particpated: Charlotte Scheltus (intern).
