Seminar International Police Cooperation

Atrium, Medical Faculty, VU University Amsterdam
15 December 2011

The aim of this seminar is to bring together experienced policing scholars with academics who have recently concluded academic research on police co-operation or who are in the final stages of their PhD-research. The seminar offers speakers and participants the possibility to share and update their knowledge and academic network, and to identify issues for new research in the field of international police co-operation. Are we in need of new theoretical frameworks to deepen our understanding of the dynamics of international policing and its governance? To what extent do scholars generate sufficient empirical findings and what can be done to improve our record? Which security challenges will be prominent on the future policy and research agenda? These and other questions will be the core of our interest.

The seminar will be a warming up for the PhD defence by Drs. Ludo Block, which will take place on 15 December 2011 at 13.45 hrs in the plenary hall (aula), to which participants of this seminar are kindly invited. Attendance of this seminar is free but registration is required before 1 December 2011.
