Ph.D. research: "Organizing Security Culture in Practice. Strategies for Cultural Change in the Dutch and Spanish Railway Sector"

This research project entails a comparative study on security culture within organisations in the Dutch and Spanish railway sector. It focuses on the way in which organisational actors in this sector shape and give meaning to security culture in order to cope with institutional and societal changes with regard to security. In particular it deals with the processes of sensemaking, interpretation, and translation, through which these actors incorporate the issue of security into their daily practice.

The project is part of the research programme Cultural Change in Organizational Networks CuCON ofthe department of Culture, Organization and Management and within that programme of a research group, focused on processes of cultural change and intervention strategies in complex organizations in the infra-sector, centred around the chair held by Prof. Dr. M. Veenswijk
In addition, this Ph.D. project is part of the research school of the Netherlands Insitute of Government (NIG)
