The education of the department of Communication Studies prepares students at different levels (bachelor, master) for working in organizations and professions in which the rapid emergence of new media change in character. Students learn the academic skills necessary to critically analyze these developments.  Specifically, students learn to conduct research that contributes to knowledge of how communication between people, organizations and institutions affected by the opportunities of, for example, social media. Graduates of the Bachelor's and Master Communication Science work in the areas of media, business and government where they apply their analytic skills to better understand the effect and potential of new media.

Bachelorprogram Communication Science

There are five different Bachelor's programmes currently offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences at the VU University Amsterdam. Please note: the Bachelor's programmes are taught primarily in Dutch.

At Bachelor's level our courses are designed to help students develop strong academic research and writing skills as well as a substantive knowledge in the field of their study and a critical scientific attitude.
